Cars are just mean to a greater pursuit

Elon Musk has already shaken the automotive industry. He perfectly described it in his famous Secret Master Plan. However, building electric cars is not Tesla’s end game. Energy is. And electric cars are just a way to get there.

Sure you probably heard about their solar roof tiles and battery packs. You probably heard about a famous Twitter bet about installing Tesla batteries somewhere in the world. But all of this pales in comparison to what Tesla did in summer 2020.

In June, the company became a member of the EPEX power exchange, a platform used to trade electricity in Western Europe.

Tesla has already disrupted German and French industries by challenging Volkswagen, BMW, or Renault. Now it’s poised to take on established energy utilities in the heart of Europe.

In September, it has even been surveying German customers whether they would allow the company to tap the electricity stored in their car batteries and feed it back into the grid. Some of the questions, according to Reuters, were:
